"too nice...like Charlie on GIRLS"

A friend was recounting to me a concern her man had raised with her, that he was too nice..."like Charlie on Girls!" we simultaneously exclaimed. While the Mr. Too Nice Guy is an ever so realistic character, there's one aspect of the whole shebang that boggles the mind...

Why the fuck would Marnie be upset when she and Charlie break up? She's bored with him! She likens his affection to "a creepy uncle touching your arm." Right after they had makeup sex—marred by Charlie's love proclamation pre-climax—Marnie announces, "I want to break up" with a disgusted scowl.

Now it seems that the natural progression would be for Marnie to go out, slut it up, get blackout drunk and entertain us with her foibles. I don't for a minute believe that she's pining over smothering-love dude. It's kinda believable that after all those years, she feels astray without him, but I don't get that from the show. When she talks about putting on her pretty dress and winning him back, I could not for the life of me understand why.

Do you find Marnie's missing of Charlie believable? Would you prefer that she wile out single-girl style, dick-cruisin' for a bruisin'? Have her announce that she can't be kept in a cage, unless it's a stripper cage? (jk, that's a Jessa line.)
